About

In order to introduce peer-learning and peer-mentorship into systems of learning in schools, The HOPE Project aims at fostering and normalising a culture of peer-led mentoring, which will ensure a greater ease of communication, flow of information and knowledge, provide adequate support systems, and a plane level without any hierarchies of power, age, or systemic seniority.

HOPE stands for Holistic One-on-One Peer-led Education, and as the definition suggests, is a hope to introduce a system of what can be considered a tailor-made individual, and relatable experience for the students. We hope to achieve this by enabling peer mentors through systemic and individual support, developing thorough and well connected learning networks, and offering assistance for teen communication and exchange based on best practices, keeping in mind the nuances and sensitives that arise while engaging with a diverse set of temperaments.

The project consists of a seven part training manual with industry tested and trusted modules on methods of peer mentorship within the younger populations. In addition to interpersonal matters that may arise during the process of learning, the module also focuses on planning of an academic path, building up to and setting of goals. This part of the program also contains specific workshops and assignments which further aid the learning and teaching process.

A successive part of this initiative is the HOPE Pilot Program, wherein the Hope curriculum was introduced to willing students from grades 10 and 11. This was done at the Tejas Vidyalaya - our school partner in Vadodara. Within a month, which consisted of four interactive sessions, students were successfully certified as ‘trained facilitators’ by training and introducing the HOPE project module within the school’s academic curriculum.
